2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, WWF pins from 0035-0059

 

WorldWide Friendship(WWF, for short), is authorized by National Olympic Committee(NOC, for short) as EXCLUSIVE pin/badge supplier until 2020 Dec 31st. Here is the Introduction to 2020 NOC pins from WWF.

 

  1. The designs come from the 5 Shillings note, which is showing 4 animals: antelope, hippo, crane and elephant. Moreover, there are 2 more pins and these 6 pins will be a 6 pins puzzle, in the shape of cherry. The puzzle will be put into a foldable paper gift box.
    • WWF-0035, antelope. The antelope is running and jumping, together with the word “Tokyo” as a part of it.
    • WWF-0036, hippo. The hippo is a cute animal, hiding in the water and waiting; the 2 fishes are Japanese carp which represents happiness in Japan.
    • WWF-0037, crane. The grey crowned crane (Balearica regulorum) is a bird in the crane family, Gruidae. It is found in eastern and southern Africa, and is the national bird of Uganda. Origami, is a famous special craft of Japan. How I wish I could make an origami of grey crowned crane?
    • WWF-0038, elephant. Most of time, elephant represents Africa, and everyone likes it. The design combine elephant body with the word “Japan” and you can see how lovely it is!
    • WWF-0039, the national stadium. The Mandela National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kampala, Uganda. The stadium was built with a grant of US$36 million from the People’s Republic of China(PRC).
    • WWF-0040, the heart of cherry pin puzzle, with both NOC logo and game logo.

 

  1. Madagascar is famous for the cute and small lemurs, various kinds of lemurs. They are looking like monkeys, but with different colors, stripes, even the moving actions. The 3 kinds of lemurs and 1 small fan make a bigger fan puzzle. The smaller fan is at the bottom, with tissues as ribbon. Moreover, there are 2 more pins besides the puzzle. The puzzle will be put into a foldable paper gift box.
  • WWF-0041, the brown lemur on a branch, with NOC logo.
  • WWF-0042, the ring-tailed lemur with NOC logo. The ring-tailed lemur is almost the most famous lemurs of Madagascar, and it is popular with small kids and cartoon.
  • WWF-0043, Sifakas( the brown and white lemur) with NOC logo. Sifakas are medium-sized indrids with a head and body length of 40 to 55 cm (16 to 22 in) and a weight of 3 to 6 kg (6.6 to 13.2 lb). Their tail is just as long as their body, which differentiates them from the Indri.
  • WWF-0044, Smaller fan NOC delegation pin. The pin is in a smaller fan shape, and also a part of the bigger fan puzzle. With a hole at bottom, for tissue as ribbon.
  • WWF-0045, Ukiyoe. Ukiyoe and whale on NOC logo. Ukiyoe is Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese art which flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties; kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers; scenes from history and folk tales; travel scenes and landscapes; flora and fauna; and erotica. The term ukiyo-e (浮世絵) translates as “picture[s] of the floating world”. You can also see a tail of whale on the pin and I want to tell you “Love peace, save whale.”
  • WWF-0046, Noc logo of a cherry shape. As we all know, cherry flower is a symbol of Japan and you can recognized this pin as dated pin although no words on it.

 

  1. Lesotho, officially the Kingdom of Lesotho, is an enclaved country within the border of South Africa. It is one of only three independent states completely surrounded by the territory of another country, and the only one outside of the Italian peninsula. Lesotho is just over 30,000 km2 in size and has a population of around 2 million. Its capital and largest city is Maseru. The NOC pins will be put into a foldable paper gift box.
    • WWF-0047, country map with Noc logo. Blue, white and green are the national colors of Lesotho.
    • WWF-0048, traditional foldable paper fan with NOC logo. Blue, white and green are the national colors of Lesotho, so the fan uses these 3 colors.
    • WWF-0049, Lesotho traditional hat which is the symbol of their country, with Mt.Fuji and red sun.
    • WWF-0050, traditional lantern shape delegation pin with ribbon. With “Lesotho” in Japanese on the pin, “レソト”. The ribbon is combined with 5 colors which are 5 rings.

 

  1. Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the subregion of West Africa. Spanning a land mass of 238,535 km2 (92,099 sq mi), Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east and the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the south. Ghana means “Warrior King” in the Soninke language. The NOC pins will be put into a foldable paper gift box.
  • WWF-0051, country map with Noc logo. Red, yellow and green are the national colors of Ghana.
  • WWF-0052, traditional lantern shape delegation pin with ribbon. With Japanese words “Tokyo” “東京” on the ribbon, in traditional calligraphy.
  • WWF-0053, with the design of plum blossom design. Plum represents integrity, strong, modest in both Japan and China, also some other East Asian Countries.
  • WWF-0054, with the design of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial, which located in downtown Accra, Ghana is the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum. The Mausoleum is the final resting place of Ghana’s first President and Africanist. The museum hosts rare artefacts relating to Ghana’s independence and tours at the park give visitors in-depth history of the Sub-saharan struggle for independence.
  • WWF-0055, with the design of Japanese “GO” checkerboard. With “Ghana” in Japanese on the pin, “ガーナ”.

    Just wondering if these pins are available to buy? I live in Calgary, Canada and would like to get some of these. Would also trade as well. Look forward to hearing from you on the price of individual pins. Very interesting looking pins.
